Overview
Elvis Costello is putting together an opera based on Danish fairy-tale writer Hans Christian Anderson.
"The Secret Arias" is based on songs Anderson wrote for soprano Jenny Lind. Anderson pined away for Lind, but she never returned his affections. A spokesman for Copenhagen's opera house says Costello immediately loved the idea and he already had a clear idea about the opera 18 months ago.
The opera will open in 2006 in Copenhagen. Costello will perform the songs during a concert in Copenhagen in august.document.write(unescape("
