Engelbert Humperdinck talks of Gorillaz snub

Engelbert Humperdick says that his former manager knocking back a chance for him to work with Gorillaz was 'the most grievous sin that had ever been committed'.

In an interview with Undercover.fm, Engelbert wanted to set the story straight. ' had a manager who I no longer have. I mean, he turned down The Gorillaz. I couldn't believe it, without me even knowing. For me that was like the most grievous sin that had ever been committed,' he tells Undercover News. 't hurt me badly. It hurt my reputation. I wouldn't do a thing like that. The Gorillaz? My God! I would jump on it like a ton of bricks'.

All this time Damon Albarn has been mistakenly under the impression that Engelbert snubbed the group. 'He was supposed to do it, but then he declined, which was a real shame because that song would have been on the record,' Albarn told NYmag.com.

Knocking back Gorillaz is one of the reasons Engelbert decided on new management. His son Scott Dorsey now manages him. ''d really like to rekindle that suggestion again and bring it back,' he says. 'Hopefully they will ask me again. My son Scott will definitely say yes'.

Engelbert has just released his first studio album in a number of years. 'Released' was produced by the Australian pop powerhouse team Paul Wiltshire and Victoria Wu at his home in Los Angeles.
