Olly Murs has been circling the U.S. market all year long. While he's managed to top the charts back in his native U.K., now seems as good a time as any for the British pop singer to try to win the hearts of Stateside music lovers.
And he's had a pretty good setup. Having already toured with fellow former "X Factor" contestants, One Direction, over the summer, and with his current single, "Heart Skips A Beat," taking over radio, his U.S. debut album, the aptly titled Right Place, Right Time, drops in December. And Murs has his fingers crossed it will help him make a successful swim across the pond.
"It just felt Right Place, Right Time, I had the title in my head for ages," he told. "I don't know. I just felt I liked the saying 'right place, right time.' I think my career, where it's got to, where it's gone it just feels right at the moment and I'm going to be going to be the right place and the right time when it comes out," he told.
The album will not only feature the crushworthy lead single, but also his next one, the Flo Rida-assisted, "Troublemaker." And, if you couldn't guesstimate from its title, is all about that special girl that you can't shake off, even if you know you should because, let's face it, she's got a bit of a wild side.
"It's exciting really to come out with a new record and obviously 'Heart Skips A Beat' is what we're promoting at the moment, but obviously to get the video sorted for 'Troublemaker' is what we wanted to get done as soon as we came to America," he shared about the clip, before revealing how he got the often-shirtless rapper on the song.
"So, getting Flo Rida on the record was kind of easy, in a way. [It] wasn't hard," he said. "I was expecting it to be a lot harder than it was. We just literally sent him the track, his people the track and they heard it and really liked it. And Flo Rida was like 'I really want to do it.' So he was up for doing it," he shared, noting that after a few days "it came back and it sounded amazing. I just think the way the song is and when people hear it, they'll understand why Flo Rida is such a perfect person to sing the song and get his vibe on it. So, it's exciting."
