The only living original member of The Four Tops is being sued by the family of some of the deceased members.
Abdul "Duke" Fakir, the lone surviving member of the original Four Tops, is being sued by Tobi Walker and Eboni Benson, the daughters of the late-Renaldo "Obie" Benson. At issue is the is revenue that is supposed to be paid to Four Tops LLC which handles the business side of the group's affairs.
According to the suit, Fakir has failed to collect all money that is owed the company. In addition, there seems to be some confusion on whether the heirs of the late-Levi Stubbs and Lawrence Payton ever officially became owners of the company which was supposed to have 25% held by each of the original members or their heirs.
Walker and Benson are looking for at least $25,000 and to close the business, removing Fakir as the operating manager. Walker told the Detroit News "We don't want him to stop performing. No, not at all. That's part of all of our legacy. We just want things done fairly for all four families."
