Kendal Calling Festival 2014 entered it’s second day yesterday (2 August), with performances from Frank Turner, Happy Mondays and 2ManyDJ’s among countless others.
Headlining the main stage, Turner drew a sizeable crowd despite the poor weather conditions to deliver a show filled with hits from his hugely popular discography, seeing a strong reaction to his brand of politically-charged alternative folk from a large receptive audience.
Earlier in the day, 90's dance icons The Happy Mondays brought acid-fuelled joy and nostalgia to their early-evening slot, reeling off a barrage of hits including ’Step On’ and ‘Kinky Afro', while 2ManyDJs sent The Glow Tent into a frenzy with a stunning two hour set.
Elsewhere across the site, Augustines headlined the Calling Out Stage, playing after rising-star Rae Morris, whilst the likes of Gorgon City and Shadowchild kept the dance-tent moving late into the night.
As forecast earlier in the week, the weather on site has been intermittently horrendous, with some tents flooded by the rain and the ground incredibly treacherous under-foot, with the sludge-like consistency of the site showing no signs of hardening before the festival ends.
Tonight (3 August) will see the festival come to a close with a headline performance from Example on the main stage, with Frightened Rabbit, Women’s Hour, Miles Kane and a host of others also set to play throughout the day.
