Scottish band Franz Ferdinand recently collaborated with soon-to-be-jailbound US rapper T.I. playing 'Live Your Life' with him at the Diesel 30th birthday party in New York and when thehothits.com spoke to them recently they said their meeting was cut short thanks to T.I's legal woes.
"It was fun actually," says bass player Bob Hardy. Sticks-man Paul Thomson also told thehothits.com he thinks 'Live Your Life' is "a great track" but unfortunately the collaboration was one-sided.
"He was going to rap over 16 bars of [new Franz Ferdinand single] Ulysses as well but he had a federal curfew and had to go home... He had to be tucked up in bed by 2am," says Paul.
T.I. has been in trouble with the law thanks to gun possession charges he received in October 2007 and is facing 1 year jail-time starting in March.
The drummer says he even tried get a bit "gangsta" with the rapper, achieving mixed results.
"I did the handshake with him. I didn't know what I was doing and I just started doing it immediately without thinking. Halfway through it I was like 'What am I doing?!'"
The Diesel party paired up unusual acts to perform together, like Hot chip and Chaka kahn, a very pregnant M.I.A and N.E.R.D and of course Franz Ferdinand and T.I.
The band's 3rd studio album, 'Tonight: Franz Ferdinand', is set to be released in Australia before anywhere else - on the 24th of January.
