Franz Ferdinand hit V crowd with new songs

Franz Ferdinand premiered their eagerly awaited new album in the UK for the first time at the V Festival in Staffordshire saturday night.

The band, co-headlining the event with Scissor Sisters, delighted the evening throng by playing four songs from their second LP 'You Could Have It So Much Better…With Franz Ferdinand', out on October 3.

The tracks were new single 'Do You Want To', 'Evil And A Heathen', 'I'm Your Villain' and 'The Fallen'.

Frontman Alex Kapranos introduced their massive hit 'Take Me Out' as "a song written by Tony Christie in 1942", in tribute to the veteran singer who had played the V Stage earlier that day.

Earlier, Kapranos had told NME.COM of his delight to be at V, saying: "It's great, seems like there's a nice atmosphere. It's our first time here, so it's pretty good to be headlining!"
