Franz Ferdinand homecoming

Franz Ferdinand returned to Scotland for a gig at Edinburgh's Princess Street Gardens on Wednesday as part of the city's T On The Fringe music festival.

Although they have made festival and charity gig appearances over the course of 2005, this was the first full-length show by the band in Scotland this year, who release their eagerly-awaited second album ‘You Can Have It So Much Better... With Franz Ferdinand' on October 3.

As such, the 15-song set featured five tracks from the record, including new single 'Do You Want To'. The others were 'I'm Your Villain', 'The Fallen', title track 'You Can Have It So Much Better' and 'What You Meant'.

Alex Kapranos in particular seemed pleased to return to action in Scotland. “It's nice to see you again, we've not seen you in a while,” he said, also recounting that his parents used to take him for a walk in Princes Street Gardens when he was younger and that drummer Paul Thomson went to nearby Portobello High School.
