Franz Ferdinand live set kicks off well

Franz Ferdinand played their first live show of 2005 last night.

The band headlined a bill at the London Royal Albert Hall (April 5), which also featured appearances from Kaiser Chiefs, Graham Coxon and a short acoustic set from Magic Numbers.

All four acts appeared for free, and proceeds from the show are to be donated to the Teenage Cancer Trust.

During Franz' set, the band played four previously unreleased songs - 'Your Diary' and 'This Boy', ‘Wee Andy' and ‘Evil Heathen'.

'Your Diary' and 'This Boy' were completely reworked from last year's live shows, while ‘Wee Andy' and ‘Evil Heathen' were trademark Franz, and likely to feature on the band's forthcoming second album, due later this year.
