Franz Ferdinand made their UK live comeback tonight (December 11), playing a show at Belle & Sebastian's All Tomorrow's Parties Bowlie 2 festival at Butlins, Minehead.
The show was a surprise of sorts, with their appearance only confirmed when fans arrived on site yesterday and saw them listed on the gig schedule following internet rumours about the gig.
They played in the Centre Stage venue in the holiday park shortly after curators Belle & Sebastian's show in the Pavilion.
The performance wasn't frontman Alex Kapranos and guitarist Nick McCarthy's first show of the day. Earlier on the pair joined Edwyn Collins on stage for his song 'Do It Again', Kapranos staying on to assist with 'A Girl Like You' as the former Orange Juice man played an afternoon show backed by Teenage Fanclub.
Collins was also joined by The Cribs' Ryan Jarman, who helped out with 'What Is My Role'.
Franz Ferdinand's own show saw them play hits including 'Michael' and 'Ulysses' but no new material, ending with a one-song encore of 'Better On Holiday'.
Franz Ferdinand played:
'Cheating On You'
'Shopping For Blood'
'Tell Her Tonight'
'Walk Away'
'Bite Hard'
'The Dark Of The Matinee'
'Van Tango'
'The Fallen'
'The Witch'
'Michael'
'Ulysses'
'Outsiders'
'Better On Holiday'
