Franz Ferdinand took time out of their latest UK arena tour for a secret gig at one of the very first venues they ever played yesterday (November 23).
The gig at the Glasgow Stereo saw the band come onstage at 1pm, ahead of their second date at the city's SECC venue the same evening. Situated in the West End of the city, Stereo has often been cited by members of the band as an important venue for local acts playing the Glasgow circuit.
Playing an eight-song, 45-minute set, singer Alex Kapranos took the opportunity to thank and namecheck various old friends from Glasgow.
'Michael', he said, was about "the guy behind the bar in (Stereo's sister bar) Mono", while 'This Boy' was dedicated to his former band The Amphetameanies. 'The Fallen' was for "wee Andy" - sometime fifth member of the band Andy Knowles, who then joined them on drums for 'Walk Away'.
Franz Ferdinand's arena tour continues tomorrow (November 25) at Hull Ice Arena.
The setlist was:
'Michael'
'This Boy'
'Take Me Out'
'The Fallen'
'Walk Away'
'What You Meant'
'Tell Her Tonight'
