Franz Ferdinand to close T on the Fringe

Scottish indie rock giants Franz Ferdinand who in the past year have taken the world by storm, are to close this year's T on the Fringe and indeed the whole Edinburgh Fringe Festival with two exclusive one-off shows in Princes Street Gardens on the 30th and 31st August.

These shows by one of the worlds biggest bands, set against the stunning back drop of Edinburgh Castle are definitely not to be missed.

Arcade Fire will be supporting Franz Ferdinand on the 31st August for what will truly be a once in a lifetime experience with details of support for the 30th to be announced soon.

Formed in late 2001, the Glaswegian quartet spent most of their early years rehearsing in an abandoned art deco warehouse that they named The Chateau.

2004 saw Franz Ferdinand release their break through single ‘Take Me Out', which propelled them to success in the UK and laid the groundwork for the band's self titled debut album which earned them global recognition, two Brits and The Mercury Music Prize.

Their success in the UK has followed them across the pond and continues to grow, with "Take Me Out" becoming a modern rock anthem, in part thanks to the song's cutting-edge video, which earned the Breakthrough Video award at that year's MTV Music Video Awards. The song has also bought the band a prestigious Ivor Novello Award for Best Contemporary Song of 2004.

Dave Corbet, of promoters DF Concerts said: “It seems fitting that one of Scotland's biggest exports should perform to a truly international audience at this year's T on the Fringe. To have Franz Ferdinand close the festival, which is now in its sixth year, will round off what is shaping up to be an absolutely fantastic summer of music for Scottish fans”.
