Scottish indie heroes Franz Ferdinand are now confirmed to headline Hove Festival on opening day, June the 22nd. They will be the third major act to be announced as Franz Ferdinand join the ranks with The Killers and Slipknot to headline this idyllic festival on the south coast of Norway. The festival stretches from Monday the 22nd to Thursday the 25th of June.
Franz Ferdinand recently released their third album "Tonight: Franz Ferdinand", and debuted at number two in the U.K charts. It is their first appearance at Hove Festival.
In previous years there have been some truly illustrious headliners including the likes of Jay Z, Beck, Amy Winehouse, Arcade Fire, Kaiser Chiefs, Queens of The Stone Age, Slayer and of course The Killers.
Hove, now in it's third year and is already competing respectably with the other two main Scandinavian festivals Hultsfred and Roskilde. With over 15,000 visitors each day, Hove was in its first year the biggest festival in Norway. Hove Festival is now a part of Festival Republic who are the organizers behind Glastonbury, Leeds, Reading and Latitude so has strong connections to the UK and as always will be championing british bands alongside some of the best in europe.
Last year's festival could also boast a carbon neutral status, with zero carbon emissions, Hove takes its environmental responsibilities VERY seriously, collaborating closely with environmental groups such as Bellona from the planning stages. Nature is a key word here, with its idyllic location on the beautiful island of Tromøya outside the city of Arendal on the scenic Norwegian south coast, previously more known for its many naturalist painters than for its allegiance to "the devil's music".
