Franz Ferdinand have confirmed they will play the 2006 Big Day Out festival - despite official announcements not being made until next week.
Speaking with Australian website smh.com.au, frontman Alex Kapranos said the band were "all very excited" to be heading down under on their second Australasian tour.
He added: "Splendour [In The Grass Festival in Byron Bay, which the band played in 2004] was one of the absolute highlights of last year - if that is what the shows are going to be like for the Big Day Out, it will be fantastic."
The website also revealed that Iggy and The Stooges, Beck and White Stripes are all rumoured to be part of the first announcement for the festival when it is made on October 5.
