Funeral For A Friend's drummer Ryan Richards has quit the band after ten years with the rock collective.
The band announced the drummer's departure today, and name former Rise To Remain sticksman Pat Lundy as his replacement in the band. Richards reveals he plans to spend more time with his family after years putting his commitment to the band first.
“After ten wonderful, enriching, emotional and fascinating years being a part of Funeral for a Friend - I've decided to hang up my drum sticks," says Richards in an official statement. "I've always put music first in my life - but the time has come now for my family to take the top spot, after patiently waiting and supporting me for the last 10 years and more.
"I'm stoked to have my good friend Pat Lundy step into my vacant drumstool. There's not a better drummer than Pat for the job.”
Funeral For A Friend frontman Matthew Davies-Kreye says of Richards' departure: “We give Ryan our full support and wish him the best in his future endeavours. Now, before you all start running around on the internet ringing the death bells for our band we just wanted to say that we're extremely excited to announce that Pat Lundy (ex-Rise to Remain) will filling the drummer’s seat and will be kicking asses and taking names from here on in. So you better hold on to your prized snap-backs peeps, this machine ain't stopping for no one!”
Meanwhile, new addition to the band, Pat Lundy, adds: “I am well excited about my new band. I’ve shared some of my best touring memories with the boys and you gotta believe there will be plenty more to come. A proper honour to have been asked to be a part of it. The new album is gonna wreck, so get excited. Come say hi and I’ll see yas on tour!”
