For their final two shows of their US tour, Nine Inch Nails enlisted industrial music icon Gary Numan for support duties.
It's no secret the NIN frontman Trent Reznor is a big fan of Gary Numan having played together back in 2009. During that show Numan joined NIN on stage to play his classic single, 'Cars', at London's O2 arena. This time around Numan was playing the support slot for an act he had no doubt influenced.
In addition to his own set, Numan joined NIN on stage during their encore to perform, 'Reptile' and his own, 'We Take Mystery (To Bed)', with the group.
Speaking on the love he feels for Numan, a chuffed Reznor said,
"… I'd like to thank Gary Numan and his band for joining us on this tour… I waited until he left the stage so I didn't make him feel uncomfortable, but you have to understand, when I was a kid in a shitty little town, trying to dream my way out of that prison I was in, I heard that guy's music and it felt like some weird alien transmission of some place I could never get to … it was beautiful, it was strange, it was exotic and it really helped me shape who I was going to become and it was a real honour to share the stage with him tonight."
The appearance was to promote Numan's latest album, 'Splinter (Songs From A Broken Mind)', available now.
Nine Inch Nails will be touring Australia and New Zealand next year alongside stoner-rock legends, Queens Of The Stone Age.
