When Gene is photographed leaving a restaurant with two women - when he should have been attending a family function - his long-suffering partner Shannon Tweed decides she has had enough and snaps.
Shannon admits she turned a blind eye for years while the unmarried couple's two children, Nick and Sophie, were living at home.
But now that the youngest, Sophie, has left for college, she's taking Simmons to task - and the cameras will capture it all for its sixth season.
Shannon tells Gene he needs to see a therapist and says: 'It's so disrespectful to me.
'I would never do that to you.'
After seeing a shrink, Shannon decides to leave the marital home for a while.
Gene said: 'I've never stopped loving Shannon – but there's a part of you that feels entitled.'
Shannon leaves Gene a note and he is pictured sitting alone at the end of the episode, looking despondent.
