Never mind the fact they may not actually be engaged, KISS bassist/frontman Gene Simmons finally popped the question to longtime partner Shannon Tweed on the season finale of his reality show, 'Gene Simmons: Family Jewels,' which aired Tuesday (July 26).
Taped months ago in Belize, Simmons surprised his girlfriend of 28 years by getting down on one knee and proclaiming, "You're the only friend I've got. You're the only one I love … and you're the only one I will ever love."
But being reality television, viewers were left with a cliffhanger rather than an answer from Tweed. Both are playing it coy on their respective Twitter pages, with Tweed clarifying she is not wearing an engagement ring. "We are taking it day by day. Stay tuned," she said.
Simmons echoed that sentiment, telling his followers, "Shannon and I work on our relationship every day. One day at a time. Thanks for watching. When we figure out our lives, you will know."
Tweed, 54, and Simmons, 61, have two grown kids, 22-year-old Nick and 18-year-old Sophie. He has said in the past that marriage "sounds crazy to me."

Speculation that they had parted ways arose last month when Tweed walked off an interview on "The Joy Behar Show" after Simmons began joking about his conquests with women.
Depending on whether they can keep her answer under wraps, fans will have to wait until the new season of 'Family Jewels' (A&E), set for the fall, to find out what she said.
