Overview
The 41-year-old actor has been promoting new flick Machine Gun Preacher, a true-life story about a Hell’s Angel who converts to Christianity and helps rescue orphans in Muslim-dominant Sudan.
Butler was forced to hire more bodyguards when he took to the red carpet at the Canadian event after reportedly receiving a number of death threats about the controversial movie.
A film company source told Scottish newspaper, the Daily Record: 'It is quite a controversial subject and some people are upset by the strong religious theme. We are treating this matter seriously.'
