One-time Spice Girl and nineties ambassador for Girl Power is said to be TV producers' pick to join this year's X Factor judging panel full time - and her 'stand-in' role is a live audition for a permanent job.
The 'Mi Chico Latino' chart topper will be standing in at auditions, starting tomorrow (23 May, 2012) but this is said to be a testing ground to see if she is suited to a full time role on the show.
"Geri is not just a guest judge — she is our judge-in-waiting," says a source to The Sun newspaper. "We want her to do it and she wants to do it.
"We will be watching her like a hawk at Liverpool and fingers crossed it will go well and she’ll be signed. We’re not talking to anyone else."
Halliwell is no stranger to reality TV shows, having been a part of the judging panel on Popstars: The Rivals in 2002 - helping create Girls Aloud. Her previous X Factor experience however, as a stand-in for Dannii Minogue in 2010 was widely criticised by fans. The former girlband star is in line for a £400k payday if she is taken on full time by the show.
