The 38-year-old had eight top-ten singles during the late Nineties and early Noughties as a solo artist but since then she has put her music career on hold.
Halliwell is now returning with some new material and said the time feels right to make a comeback.
She said to UK newspaper Sunday Mirror: 'I'm really excited and I've been thinking about it for a long time and things feel right. I was always going to continue with music in some way.
'I've been in the studio and it's going to have a bit of a dance feel to it. I love to dance and hear this type of upbeat music in clubs, it's all going really well.
'I was proud of all my solo music and this is just the next chapter. It's time to get back into the charts again.'
