Girls Aloud are to cover a 1980s classic in a bid to score a second Christmas No.1.
The group will cover The Power Of Love that was originally a chart-topper for Frankie Goes To Hollywood.
A source said: "Girls Aloud are putting a lot of hard work into their new album as they want to shake off their Popstars:The Rivals tag and be taken seriously as a force in music.
"They got a great response when they covered Stay Another Day. So they know picking the right cover again would be a smart move."
Girls Aloud went straight to No.1 in December 2002 with Sound Of The Underground and their version to the East 17 ballad.
The girls' new single Love Machine is out on September 13.
