Justin Timberlake might have been attending the 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards as an acting nominee (along with his "The Social Network" ensemble), but it looks like he might also have some competition in his other field: Music.
"Glee" star Matthew Morrison is getting ready to turn out his debut solo record and said he might be poised to give Timberlake a run for his money.
Jenna Ushkowitz, who was nominated along with her "Glee" co-stars for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series, revealed to MTV News she's already had a listen to Morrison's latest effort.
Ushkowitz saw Morrison perform a few of his new songs at The Grove in Los Angeles over the weekend, saying, "He was amazing.
"We're really proud of him," she said on behalf of her fellow "Glee"-mates, adding, "His music is really great."
While Ushkowitz said she thought Morrison "made his own sound," her onscreen teacher had his own definition of it: "He says it's a little bit of Justin Timberlake ... [and] symphonic-sounding."
It wasn't the only time JT's name came out of the lips of "Glee" stars on the SAG red carpet. Heather Morris told, "I think his music might be coming to our show." After coyly hinting that "maybe" Timberlake's tunes would be featured, she then indulged fans with the news that, "It's a mash-up."
Meanwhile, "Glee" actor/dancer Harry Shum Jr. made a plea to Timberlake to come back to the musical forefront. Shum echoed many fans when he said, "It's been awhile since we've seen Justin Timberlake with his music videos, so please, come back Justin. We wanna see some new stuff!"
Still, Shum promises that while Timberlake weighs his options, "Glee" can tide his fans over by paying homage to "Justin moves and Justin songs" on their show.
