Greg Allman has been forced to temporarily postpone the kickoff of a book tour to promote his new book, My Cross to Bear, while he undergoes tests on his heart.
The tour, which was scheduled to last a month, was supposed to start next Tuesday in New York City; however, he is entering the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville on Friday for what his publicist is calling "diagnostic cardiac testing stemming from his hernia operation."
His website was a bit more vague:
Gregg's book tour pushed back one week Gregg is having a medical procedure tomorrow and the book tour will be pushed back a week. We wanted to let everyone know that Gregg is excited for the book launch and is still planning to get out on the road starting May 8th. We'll be posting updates regularly. Let's all send positive vibes Gregg's way!
Allman, himself, also issued a statement, saying:
I've been working on the book for years and am grateful for all the support I've received in putting it together. As soon as doctors give me the thumbs up to go back on the road, I will be heading out onto my book tour and I can't wait to meet all of my fans.
The hernia operation mentioned was related to Allman's liver transplant in 2010.
If all goes well, Allman will begin the tour on May 8.
