After a sensational year in 2008, which saw the band support Radiohead and Paul Simon in the US (becoming Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood's 'favourite band in the world') and perform on Letterman, Grizzly Bear returned with a breathtaking album, blending lush orchestral flourishes and a strong sense of melodic pop hooks with captivating and often immediate indie folk.
The album, 'Veckatimest', has now sold over 25,000 copies in the UK and has hit the 100,000 mark in the US (debuting at #8 on the Billboard chart), resulting in critical acclaim across the world not just for the record itself but also for their awe-inspiring live show, with recent New York show seeing Jay-Z and Beyonce in attendance, leading Jay-Z to later describe the band as 'incredible'. Uncut Magazine clearly agree; the band beat the the likes of Bob Dylan, Animal Collective and Wilco to 2nd place in the annual Uncut Music Award.
Meanwhile, the band also feature on the soundtrack for Twilight: New Moon, with the stand out track, 'Slow Life' (with Victoria LeGrand), alongside Thom Yorke, Bon Iver & St Vincent and The Killers.
