Guns N' Roses were an hour late for the first of two evenings at London's O2 Arena last night (October 13), but were able to finish their set without incident.
The band took to the stage nearly an hour after support act Sebastian Bach's slot ended. Despite the gig being scheduled to end at 11pm (BST), the band were allowed to play on past midnight and complete their set, unlike at Reading Festival in August where organisers pulled the plug.
Guns N' Roses' two-and-a-half-hour set comprised of a good mix of classic hits, new material and cover songs, as well as pyrotechnics and several outfit changes from frontman Axl Rose, including a purple coat and black feather boa.
Rose remained rather quiet between songs for most of the night, but he jokingly attempted to quell any riots before launching into 'Sorry'.
"Now, now, now, let's not be throwing things," he told the crowd, "because you might miss me and you might hit one of these nice people down at the front. And we wouldn't want that to happen."
Later the band briefly left the stage, but returned for an encore which included a few instrumental jams, along with 'Don't Cry', 'Madagascar', a cover of AC/DC's 'Whole Lotta Rosie' and 'Paradise City'.
The band's stop in London comes towards the end of their 'Chinese Democracy' world tour, with shows in Manchester, Zaragoza and Barcelona left.
