Kevin Cogill, the guy who put the 9 Guns n' Roses Chinese Democracy songs online illegally, has had his charge downgraded from a felony to a misdemeanor.
Wired reports that Cogill may spend a maximum of one year in jail now instead of five.
In June, Cogill uploaded 9 of the 14 songs from the unreleased Guns n' Roses album Chinese Democracy to his website, antiquiet.com. They were Chinese Democracy," "Better," "The Blues," "Madagascar," "There was a Time," "IRS," "Rhiad and the Bedouins," "Prostitute" and "If the World."
He was arrested later by the FBI over the offense.
At that time, an official released for Chinese Democracy has not been announced. Axl Rose had procrastinated over the release of the album for more than a decade.
Chinese Democracy is also expected to be the most expensive album ever made. It is rumoured to have cost around $30 million.
