It's official - indie legends Happy Mondays will headline the main stage at this year's Warrington Music Festival on Friday 19 July.
The Salford band kicks off the festival in style with a collection of their anthemic tunes including Step On which is set to get Warrington geared up for what promises to be a jam-packed weekend full of musical talent.
Earlier this year the band reunited for their 25th anniversary and their headline slot is set to be one of the first times in 19 years that the original line-up has been on stage together.
The Happy Mondays' Warrington gig is the only free gig the band is playing this year despite appearing at venues and festivals up and down the country.
Warrington Music Festival is a free, ticketed event which brings three-days of live music to Warrington town centre. The event has been organised by Culture Warrington, Score Creative and Golden Square Shopping Centre with financial support from Warrington Borough Council.
Now in its seventh year, the festival promises to be the biggest yet with more than 60 acts playing across seven stages including the Old Market Place, Warrington Town Hall, Queens Gardens and Warrington Youth Café. The event showcases local and regional talent and offers bands the chance to play their own material on a professional stage.
The 2013 Warrington Music Festival also sees the launch of a folk stage with a selection of acclaimed folk artists taking to the stage on Saturday 20 July including Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman.
Tickets for the Friday night will be available from 10am on 13 July 2013 at the Old Market Place, Golden Square with a maximum of two tickets per person being given out on a first come first served basis. The event is strictly over 16s only however under 16s can attend with adult supervision and proof of age may be required.
