Harry Styles is keeping quiet on the subject of One Direction's new song, Perfect, which is rumoured to be about his former flame Taylor Swift.
Harry, along with his bandmates Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne, released the track last month (Oct15), as the second song from their new album Made in the A.M. Devoted 1D fans have speculated Perfect is in response to Taylor's 2014 hit Style, although Harry refuses to fan the flames of gossip. The pair enjoyed a brief romance and appeared inseparable towards the end of 2012, but as the New Year rang in they promptly split.
"I think people interpret songs in different ways," Harry told People magazine. "I'm never going to tell someone what a song's about because I feel like it's up to them."
With lyrics such as, "And if you're looking for someone to write your breakup songs about / Baby, I'm perfect," it's no wonder fans think the track's about Taylor, who's hit Out of the Woods is also allegedly about her breakup with Harry. A mash up of Perfect and Style is already doing the rounds online, but the 21-year-old admits he hasn't had a listen.
"I'm sure it's good," he smiled.
Bandmate Louis was slightly more open on the subject matter of Perfect, admitting he thinks the Taylor romance may have had an impact. He and Harry penned the track together and are both eager for fans to make their own analysis when it comes to the words.
"I think everybody draws from personal experiences, so of course to a degree I'm sure that influenced some of it," Louis expressed. "Down to specifics to who that song is exactly about, that's fan's interpretation, I suppose."
