Ice Cube is trying to convince Dr. Dre to make new music for a film.
The hip hop musicians were bandmates in the legendary gangster rap group N.W.A., which shot to fame in the late 1980s.
Ice is currently producing a movie on N.W.A. called Straight Outta Compton and he thinks Dre should contribute to its soundtrack.
"I'm trying to convince [Dr.] Dre that we should do some new tracks for the movie," he told MTV News.
N.W.A. was comprised of Ice, Dre, Eazy E, DJ Yella, MC Ren, and at one time Arabian Prince was part of the band.
Ice, who serves as producer on Straight Outta Compton, confesses the project is so important to him the movie is always on his mind.
"I'm totally involved, I'm engulfed in it," he revealed.
"This is our legacy, you can't play with this, there's no cutting corners. I'm fully engulfed in that movie, very anal about it. It gotta be right."
Ice is currently busy promoting his new film 22 Jump Street, which also stars Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum.
But even though his schedule is hectic right now, the rapper is keeping a close eye on all the Straight Outta Compton production developments.
"It's in very good shape. Straight Outta Compton will be shot in August. So we have a director Gary Gray, he's our director. We have a cast that's going to be announced in the next week or two, so [it's] full-steam ahead," he said.
Straight Outta Compton will be released in theatres next year.
