iForward, Russia!, who announced they are taking a lengthy break from making music last month, will be headlining at the Brainwash Festival III at the Brundenell Social Club, Leeds on Friday 17th October. This will be their only gig for the foreseeable future.
Tickets for the show are £9 in advance, or £15 for a weekend ticket and are available from www.wegottickets.co.uk. All profits from ticket sales goes to charity (Sheffield Childrens Hospital and a new project in Laos supporting poor villages).
Following their recent statement, iForward, Russia! would like to make it clear that they are still a band. Explains Tom, 'We HAVEN'T split up, the message [we put out about the break] was carefully worded so as not to give that impression but obviously it hasn't worked 100%. We also deliberately avoided the word "hiatus" because that has obvious splitting-up connotations but people have shoehorned in there. At the moment, we have no timetabled plans to do anything, but at some point in the future we do intend to write new songs. When that will be no-one knows."
Earlier this year, the band released their acclaimed second studio album, "Life Processes" which critics praised as "A bold return from the Leeds four-piece, this sees iForward, Russia! step up their sound without straying from the obtuse melody that defined their debut" (Music Week) and "Punk rock ferocity with melodic ingenuity" (Independent on Sunday). The Times said "At its best, Life Processes merges the angular hardcore of At The Drive-In and the stomp-rock of Queens Of The Stone Age with Richey Manic's hyperactive lyricism: a potent mixture, especially when fired and fuelled with iForward, Russia!'s undeniable zeal."
