J. Geils Band reunites but without J. Geils

Peter Wolf, Seth Justman, Danny Klein and Magic Dick are reuniting as the J. Geils Band. Unfortunately, because of legal rangling, John Geils is not part of the line-up.

John Geils is in the middle of a legal dispute between The J. Geils Band and his solo record label Francesca Records. The label wants control of The J. Geils Band name. As Geils is signed to the label, he is unable to participate in the reunion.

The 2012 line-up will be joined by the Uptown Horns who played on the Freeze Frame tour of the 1980s.

Says Peter Wolf, "To rock it up once again with The J. Geils Band, gives us a chance to share a body of work that we created and enjoy performing."

The J. Geils Band signed to Atlantic Records in 1970 but it was the 1980's hits Centerfold and Freeze Frame that launched the band to global success.

The J. Geils Band disbanded in 1985 and had a brief reunion in 1999.
