Ja Rule is expected to serve a two-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to gun charges.
The rapper was arrested after police stopped his luxury sports car following a gig in New York in July 2007.
He was later charged with criminal possession of a weapon, reports the Associated Press.
Appearing at Manhattan state Supreme Court today (December 13), Ja Rule was told by the judge that the issue was a “very serious matter”.
The rapper, who could have faced a 15-year sentence if convicted, will be sentenced at a later date.
