Jack Black has admitted he often lies about his height.
The talented 41-year-old actor is best known for his roles in comedies such as
Shallow Hal, School of Rock, Be Kind Rewind and Tropic Thunder.
Jack’s latest comic role is playing giant Lemuel Gulliver in Gulliver’s Travels, a movie telling the tale of enormous travel writer Lemuel who goes to the island of Liliput and ends up towering over its tiny citizens.
Despite playing a colossal creature in the film, in real-life the diminutive star admits he can be occasionally guilty of claiming to be taller than he is.
“I still lie about my height. I think I’m about 5ft 6.5 in but I will often round up to the 5ft 7,” he told Total Film magazine.
When Jack’s interviewer verified the star’s height listing on internet film database IMDb, the star was surprised to learn such personal information was available online. He also wondered whether his weight appeared, as his waistline has famously fluctuated over the years.
“It says dimensions on IMDb? Does it have my weight too? I’ve got fluctuating weight,” he explained.
Upon hearing the website listed his measurements at 5ft 6 Jack appeared to be content. He also added he has no qualms with revealing his true age.
“Close enough. And I never had to lie about my age... I don’t care,” added the actor.
