Jack White worries he lets conflict "fester" inside him.
The American rock star knows many of the issues he struggles with wouldn't affect other people. He finds it hard to let things go and often considers arguments or problems for a long time to ensure he gets to the bottom of what went wrong.
"The conflicts I've had in my life – in my adult life especially – are conflicts that a lot of people would maybe just let roll off their back and it would be no big deal to them," he explained to NME. "But I think the sensitivity of allowing things inside you to bruise you because you can't help but explore the different sides of them… you allow more conflict to sort of fester inside you. I do. As an artist. I analyse it and overanalyse it. And not out of anxiety, but out of… a real search for the real answer to the question."
Jack's inward emotions are always at the fore when he is writing songs. He often doesn't realise how negative his tunes sound until he listens back to them, when he is usually left shocked.
However, he has warned fans not to expect anything different in the future.
"It's being drawn to struggle," he said. "I think the problem is that when I start to write in a happier vein, it sounds too easy to my ears, and I cross it out and I incorporate struggle into it."
