Jack White has shared the details of the 'ultra' vinyl edition of his second solo album, Lazaretto and he's really not messing around. This is now the standard all special edition vinyls need to hit. Sorry, everyone else in music.
Not content with simply putting out his new album on an extra-heavy vinyl pressing, maybe in a gatefold sleeve with some nice inlay notes, Lazaretto will play backwards, feature holograms, secret tracks UNDER THE LABELS and a whole lot more vinyl craziness. If you needed a new reason to love Jack White, ladies and gentlemen - this is it.
White's 'ultra' Lazaretto pressing is so special that it comes with a 9 minutes long introduction video. Check it out below.
But, if you don't have time to watch a video about vinyl, here is a breakdown of what you can expect on Jack White's vinyl release of Lazaretto. Side A of the album plays from the inside to the outside - and when it hits the outside of the record it will hit a locked groove and play until the listener removes the stylus. Oh yeah, and there are two bonus tracks which only appear on the vinyl release hidden under the labels.
We're not sure how this works, but 'Just One Drink' features an acoustic and an electric introduction which will merge together to become one using 'double groove technology'. There is also a hologram of an angel on side A of the album - just because he can.
Finally, the album comes with a shiny side A and a matte-finish effect on side B. For those interested in the actual music, rather than the extras, you will be pleased to know that Lazaretto's vinyl relase was mastered with no compression. Lazaretto is release on 10 June 2014. We want this vinyl, A LOT.
