JACK WHITE has said that downloading music is an unromantic experience for fans.
The White Stripes and Dead Weather star said illegal downloading wasn't just detrimental to the artist.
And he added that declining album sales proved that people no longer had a "moral conundrum" when it came to file-sharing.
Speaking to BBC Newsbeat, he said: "Oh well, that's the individuals personal battle to think about really.
"Download culture isn't a very romantic experience for the fan regarding art, it cheapens it and makes it fast forwardable, and disposable, and a lot of times ignorable.
"That's a shame for a lot of art and music that isn't getting the chance that it would if people just left the needle on the record till the end of the side or what have you."
White recently launched a special subscription service called The Vault designed to reconnect fans with music.
