James Morrison wins AOL Music poll

After more than five million votes, AOL Music has announced Rich Boy, James Morrison, Young Love, and Dropping Daylight as the first four winners of its audience selected Breakers program (http://music.aol.com/franchise/breakers), an ongoing interactive competition where music fans select one winning "Breaker" from four distinct categories. Each winning Breaker will receive substantial exposure throughout AOL Music, including an exclusive performance. In addition, the AOL Music editors have named the twelve finalists for the next round of voting.

With 51%, Rich Boy barely edged out Amy Winehouse (46%) as the winning Breaker in "Don't Give a F#%*!" category. Despite having a 1# single, with "This Is Why I'm Hot," rapper MIMS only received 3% of the total vote. There was another close race in the "Mr. Sensitive" category where James Morrison won, garnering 54% of the vote, besting Secondhand Serenade (44%) and Landon Pigg, who barely registered with a mere 2%.

Young Love easily won the "As Heard on TV" category with 63% of the total vote, beating Corbin Bleu of High School Musical fame (21%) and Perez Hilton darling Mika (16%). With 61% of the vote, Dropping Daylight won the "Not Your Usual Rock" category. Despite currently having a top 10 hit, Gym Glass Heroes received only 34%, followed by Hellogoodbye (5%).

Round 2 has already launched, and fans can begin voting in the following categories "Got Moves," "Not Just Eye Candy," "Don't Call Us Emo," and "We've Got the Hookup," at http://music.aol.com/franchise/breakers-2007. Voting will last until May 10th, with the winners being revealed and round 3 beginning on Monday, May 14th.

Each Breaker category provides detailed information on each artist/band including photos, facts, as well as links to select songs and videos available for free on-demand streaming.
