Rockers Jane's Addiction is on a hiatus while frontman Perry Farrell works on a musical for Las Vegas.
The group has had an on-again/off-again relationship forming in 1985 and breaking up in 1991 followed by reunions in 1997, 2001 and 2008. Their last studio album and the fourth of their career, The Great Escape Artist, was released in 2011. They also released a standalone single, Another Soulmate, last summer.
Farrell is writing a dance musical, Kind Heaven, with French producer Joachim Garraud. The show is set in Thailand and is about a soldier's relationship with a woman working in a Buddhist monastery helping get civilians out of the area. He describes the music as having a sound as if Giorgio Moroder had written it.
Plans are to mount the show in Las Vegas along with a possible tour.
As far as Jane's Addiction's future, Farrell said "It'll be a couple of years before you see Jane's again."
