Charity ActionAid has spent the last few months collecting photo messages from the public, urging the UK Government to take action at this weeks' all-important climate change summit in Copenhagen. Almost 6,500 messages were given directly to Climate Change Secretary Ed Miliband, including some from well known faces.
Artists such as Jarvis Cocker, Brian Molko (Placebo), Frankie Sandford of The Saturdays and Dougie Poynter from McFly all sent a photo message to the PM, as did bands including Funeral for a Friend, Hadouken! and Enter Shikari. TV presenters also got in on the action, with Alexa Chung adding her name, along with her old T4 colleagues Rick Edwards and Jameela Jamil.
The photos all carry the warning message of 'Food vs Dust.' ActionAid argues that if the UK and other governments do not take drastic action at the summit, extreme and unpredictable weather patterns will leave us facing a future of dust and no food- with the world's poorest hit the hardest.
ActionAid volunteer, Rebecca Burlinska, 22, was given the job of meeting Mr Miliband and handing in the photo messages personally.
She said: "Ed Miliband was very excited when I handed him the digital photo frame with all the messages, and told me it would take pride of place on his desk. He definitely seemed impressed, so let's hope that the message gets through and climate change will really be affected at the summit."
Rebecca is currently travelling to Copenhagen to report on the summit for ActionAid's youth network, Bollocks to Poverty.
