Faber and Faber announces an expansion of their relationship with Jarvis Cocker, the frontman of Pulp, as he is appointed Editor-at-Large.
Cocker will work closely with Lee Brackstone and Hannah Griffiths in a broad commissioning role. Jarvis Cocker's first book, Mother, Brother, Lover is published by Faber next week.
Cocker's appointment echoes the role famously played by Pete Townshend in the 1980s at Faber. And it comes at a time of notable acquiring activity on the music list at Faber. World Rights have been bought in Future Days: A History of Krautrockby David Stubbs and Psychedelia and Other Colours by Rob Chapman, acclaimed author of a biography of Syd Barrett. Upcoming titles from Faber include Will Oldham on Bonnie Prince Billy, legendary rocker Julian Cope's Copendium, and James Fearnley's remarkable memoir of a lifetime spent as accordion player in The Pogues, Here Comes Everybody.
Jarvis Cocker says, 'I am proud, and more than a little excited, to be asked to work with Faber in an editorial capacity. It is my dearest hope that we will produce some fantastic books together.'
Cocker will start an agreed two year role as Editor-at-Large with an open brief from January.
