Jennifer Lopez feels much more comfortable on stage than she ever did judging American Idol.
The star recently gave up her spot on the TV show's panel, following two years with the programme. She is currently touring with Enrique Iglesias and realised that is where her true passion lies.
American Idol helped Jennifer see just how successful she is.
"Idol was a catalyst for all this movement in my life," she told Los Angeles Times. "Talking to the contestants and sharing what I've learned over the years performing live and singing in the studio — it got me back to those things. All of a sudden I realised I knew all this stuff.
"I'm a professional! And as fun as it was to take a break from everything and do that for a little while, this is where I belong. I'm so much more at ease on stage than I was sitting in that chair."
Jennifer released a new album last year and is pleased with how popular it was.
The star says the secret to musical success is to keep moving forward and coming up with fresh sounds. Having her four-year-old twins Max and Emme helps with that.
"You have to be in the moment," she said. "If you get stuck in the '90s, you'll just be back there trying to re-create something.
"My daughter loves Justin Bieber."
Enrique has enjoyed touring with Jennifer and has been impressed with her professionalism. She gives her shows everything and works hard to make them visually impressive.
"Jennifer's show is like a Broadway musical. And I run on a budget," he laughed.
