The American Idol judge admitted that she had started to worry about the quality of her voice, but hubby Marc – who has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide himself – helped convince her to get back in the studio.
She told radio station HOT 97, 'I'm very proud of who I am as a vocalist from where I started. The voice was always there, I was just so insecure about it in the beginning.
'Marc helped me so much because he was the one who was like, 'You have a beautiful voice.''
She added that Marc was so impressed when he heard the finished version of her forthcoming album Love that he broke down in tears.
'I think people are gonna be surprised with some of the vocals on this album,' she said. 'There's even songs on this album that when he heard the demo, he was like, 'You're gonna sing that?'
'When he heard my version, he was like, 'Wow'. Tears in his eyes. 'I'm so proud of you'.'
