Jennifer Lopez says she has "no regrets" over her choice of films and says she won't stop singing so she can be like Meryl Streep.
The 34-year-old told the New York Times that despite the commercial flop of Gigi, in which she co-starred with former boyfriend Ben Affleck, she has no regrets about doing the movie.
She said: "I've done movies that are not great and are successful. I've done movies that are great and are not successful. The movie business is very unpredictable.
"I don't have any regrets at all. I think there are some great scenes in that movie. And it didn't get a fair chance."
"I've had studio heads who believe in me say, 'Just be an actress, you're an incredible actress, you can be Meryl Streep,' and I say, 'I've got to be me.'
"I can't singing so people take me seriously as an actress. I'm an actress. You either take me seriously or you don't. I'm sorry if people think I do too many things. But I would be miserable if I couldn't do all of these things. I just have to be me."
Lopez, who last month topped the UK charts for the second time with her song Get Right, released her fourth album, Rebirth, on Monday.
Meanwhile, the New York Post has backtracked on its report last week that Lopez has re-signed with former manager Benny Medina. The paper now reports the pair have decided to remain "good friends."
