Following on from his critically-acclaimed second album, How We Became (co-produced by Eno/Bjork/Arcade Fire mastermind Markus Dravs), Jeremy Warmsley will release a new acoustic version of live favourite 'If He Breaks Your Heart' as a free download. This tender yet violent paean to unfulfilled love will surely raise a rueful smile from anyone who has ever seen the object of their desire step out with some ape: "If he breaks your heart, I will break his legs..."
"It's probably my best lyric" declares Warmsley, and he's probably right. Divorced from the precise robotics of the interpretation that features on his album, the newly recorded acoustic version, familiar from JW's live shows, allows the soul of the song to shine through all the more clearly. "If he breaks your heart... I still won't stand a chance" he sighs, and so will you.
The song will be available as a free download from Jeremy's website from the 14th February 2009. An accompanying EP will be available from i-Tunes from the 9th February, including two brand new tracks and a remix by West London Pitchfork-endorsed dancefloor genius Player Player.
To celebrate the release, Jeremy will be hosting the first ever Heartbreak Ball on Sunday 15th February. In the lovely, intimate confines of the Slaughtered Lamb, Farringdon (London), expect an all-day affair with balloons, cupcakes, and performances from friends new and old, including Gossamer Albatross, Stars of Sunday League and A Classic Education, plus more TBC.
