Singer Jhene Aiko is set to divorce her producer husband Dot da Genius after less than one year of marriage.
The musicians secretly tied the knot 11 months ago, but the honeymoon period is over after she filed court documents to end their union on Thursday (11Aug16).
In legal papers obtained by TMZ, Aiko cites irreconcilable differences as the reason for divorce. She is also asking the judge to deny Dot da Genius, real name Oladipo Omishore, any spousal support.
It is rumoured a relationship with rapper Big Sean may have prompted the split, as he and Jhene have been working very closely in recent months on their newly-formed duo TWENTY88.
Aiko and Big Sean, both 28, even kissed onstage, in front of a live audience, while performing their song On the Way at the Powerhouse in Anaheim, California in June (16). Their lip-locking session prompted many to speculate about the true nature of their relationship, with some insisting the make-out session was more than just for show.
Jhene, who has a seven-year-old daughter named Namiko from a prior relationship, has previously discussed the chemistry she shares with Big Sean, noting she has always appreciated his personality and musicianship.
"Big fan, big friend too," she told Complex magazine last year (Feb15). "He's one of probably my favourite people that I've met during this whole journey of being a singer. He just has a very good spirit, and he has great energy. Especially now that I'm meeting more and more people, you meet the people that just give you the wrong vibes, or you can just tell they're so into themselves and it's annoying. But from the moment I met Sean - he was already famous - and he just had a great spirit, and he continues to be genuine."
Big Sean dated singer Ariana Grande for eight months until they split in April (15), while he was also previously engaged to Naya Rivera.
