A series of fires around Hollywood and West Hollywood claimed a number of homes including the former residence of Jim Morrison at 8021 Rothdell Trail.
The fire broke out at about 1:20 AM and was one of 19 in the area that appears were set by an arsonist. 56 firefighters responded to the alarm and one was injured when he fell from a ladder. The fire was brought under control in about 35 minutes.
The structure, which was built in 1922, was the home of Morrison with girlfriend Pamela Carson and was where he wrote the Doors' albums Waiting for the Sun and part of The Soft Parade. It is also thought that the group's song Love Street was written about Rothdell Trail.
Damage was limited to the carport, where the fire started, a balcony and the front of the house.
