J.J. Cale will release his first studio album in 5 years next month.
'Roll On' marks a return to the studio for Cale, although he did release the album 'The Road To Escondido' with Eric Clapton in 2006.
The title track from 'Roll On' will also feature Clapton. It is a previously unreleased song.
'Roll On' will feature 12 new Cale songs. Cale wrote and produced them all.
Cale rose to fame in the early 70s with 'Crazy Mama' but it was 'Cocaine' that became his signature tune.
Meanwhile, he was also the musician's songwriter with Clapton being one of his early fans. Eric Clapton recorded Cale's 'After Midnight' and Cocaine' and made them his own.
Lynyrd Skynyrd also propelled Cale's name when they covered 'Call Me The Breeze'.
Rounder Records will release 'Roll On' on February 24.
And will there be a SXSW gig for J.J. this year? The word was "maybe" but Cale management say the rumor is not true.
